Capitol Forest 50/100 Mile Mountain Bike Race

August 24, 2013Capitol Forest Mountain Bike Race in Washington

Now, for the finale we're heading to one of our favorite riding place Capitol Forest,  home of some of the most amazing singletrack in Washington. In the last three years our events raised over $10,000 for Friends of Capitol Forest (FOCF) to build and maintain this awesome trail network, and 10% of your 2013 entry fee will go to FOCF.

Get ready for an epic ride! With over 160 miles of singletrack trails capitol forest is truly a mountain biker's paradise. The trails are well maintained, and most of the course is rolling, though there are some fireroad climbs and fast downhills. 80-90% of the course will be singletrack, with very little overlap due to the incredible amount of superb trails out there. There will be plenty of aid stations along the course and these will be fully stocked with fresh fruit, sandwiches, Clif products (gels, bloks, bars), electrolytes (nuun, clif electrolyte), FRS, cookies, etc. The course will be well marked and accurately measured. Categories are Male Open, Male 40-49, Male 50+, Female Open, Female 40+, Singlespeed.

General

Read about how we keep the races green here.

We are dedicated to the responsible enjoyment and active stewardship of the outdoors, and we encourage you to "leave no trace behind" by taking all trash with you. The park rangers always appreciate it when racers follow the marked course and keep the trails clean, and they are much more likely to grant permission for us to put on races at the same location if the trails are kept in good condition.

The trails will be open to other users during the event, hikers and cyclists. Please be courteous, you will unlikely encounter more than a few. Where the trails are narrow, please let other participants pass you if they want to get by.

During the event we will have volunteers staffing the aid stations and HQ. These volunteers are bikers, trail builders and friends and families of the bike community that have kindly offered a day out of their weekend to work the stations so you can enjoy a safe and fun race. A race like this simply cannot happen without volunteers. Please appreciate their efforts and be courteous and gracious when requesting for help, and please consider helping out at a future event to give back to the community.

Socks

In addition to a finisher pint glass and logoed water bottle, racers will also receive a logoed biking socks. You'll be asked for sized preference during online registration.
